Green Beans Stir Fry

As much as I love Indo-Chinese food, not all of it is healthy. I love to balance out a deep fried Manchurian with a simple, healthy veggie stir fry. This is one of my go to recipes!

All you need is green beans and 5 basic ingredients (plus oil and salt). Within minutes, you will have yourself a healthy, flavorful side dish! Pair it with all of your favorite Indo-Chinese or even regular Chinese foods and you will have a more balanced complete meal! 🙂

Stir fried green beans tossed in a simple Indo-Chinese sauce

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a wok at a medium flame. Toss the wok so that the sides are coated with oil.
  • Add 1 tsp sesame seeds, 2 cloves garlic (minced/crushed), 1 inch ginger (grated) and sauté till aromatic.
  • Then add 2 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tbsp red chili sauce. Mix well and let simmer for a few minutes.
  • Once the sauce starts to bubble, add in 2 cups of green beans. (Note: first break off the ends of the green beans. Then, wash them well and thinly slice into 1/4 inch – 1/2 inch sized pieces.)
  • Toss the wok so that green beans are completely coated with the sauce. Cook at a high heat for several minutes.
  • Once the green beans are cooked, add salt to taste. Mix well and let cook for another minute or two. Then, take off flame and enjoy hot as a healthy side with your favorite Indo Chinese foods. 🙂

Notes

  • The most time consuming part of this recipe is to break off the ends of each green bean. The rest of this recipe is quick and easy!
  • If you don’t have red chili sauce, you could use siracha sauce or tomato sauce/ ketchup.
  • I prefer to crush my garlic via a mortar and pestle. You could finely mince by hand or use a pre-made garlic paste.
  • I prefer to grate my ginger. Alternatively, you could use a pre-made ginger paste.
  • This is a fun recipe that I came up with.  I hope you love it!
  • Vegan Option: This recipe is Vegan! 🙂
