Avocado Ranch Sauce (Taco Bell Copycat)

My husband and I love making Nachos for dinner for a cozy Friday night in!

We used to love topping Nachos with some homemade guacamole and a few dollops of sour cream. However, one day, I only had half an avocado and a bit of sour cream. It was just not enough for our usual toppings! Then, I remembered the delicious Avocado Ranch sauce that I love to order on the side at Taco Bell. I just had to re-create it at home! And that’s how this delicious recipe was born.

Now, we almost always make Avocado Ranch Sauce when we make Nachos! Check out my recipe for my favorite Vegetarian Black Bean Nachos here and keep scrolling for my Avocado Ranch Sauce recipe. A VIDEO TUTORIAL for both recipes is included as well. 🙂

  • 2 cloves garlic (whole cloves)

  • Water as needed

Instructions

  • Pit and peel a medium avocado. Add rough chunks of the avocado to a blender.
  • Add in 1/2 cup sour cream, 1/4 cup buttermilk, 1 tsp lemon juice, 1/2 tsp garlic powder and 1/4 tsp salt.
  • Also add 1/4 small jalapeño (roughly chopped) and 2 cloves garlic.
  • Add water as require to achieve desired consistency.
  • Blend everything together to a create a smooth, creamy sauce. Top on Nachos or any Mexican dish and enjoy! 🙂

Notes

  • If you don’t have buttermilk, regular milk works fine.
  • This recipe is inspired by Taco Bell, but it is not identical and is my own version. I hope you love it!
  • Vegan option: Replace the sour cream with vegan yogurt or dairy free sour cream. Replace buttermilk or milk with dairy free milk such as soy milk.
