Pico de Gallo sounds complicated and fancy. However, it’s really just a simple side dish consisting of tomatoes, onions, and a few other basic ingredients.
This dish is also known as Salsa Fresca, which means “fresh salsa.” It essentially is a fresh version of salsa. But both taste absolutely delicious along with tortilla chips or on top of pretty much any Mexican dish!

Ingredients
2 medium tomatoes (finely chopped)
1/2 medium red onion (finely diced)
1/2 tsp jalapeño (minced)
1/2 lime (squeezed)
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper (crushed)
1/4 cup cilantro (finely chopped)
Instructions
- Add 2 medium tomatoes (finely chopped) to a bowl.
- Also add 1/2 medium red onion (finely diced) and 1/2 tsp jalapeño (minced).
- Squeeze the juice of 1/2 lime.
- Sprinkle in 1/4 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp crushed black pepper.
- Add 1/4 cup chopped cilantro.
- Mix well. Enjoy fresh! 🙂

Notes
- I prefer to use red onions for this dish. However, you could use white or yellow onions instead.
- There are many versions of this recipe. This is my tried and true version that I came up with. I hope you love it!
